How do you show your support
Total Votes: 562
The fanfare around American Idol fascinates me. This year is the first full season I've watched of Idol.
But even in its seventh year, Idol is still very popular. But I'm curious just how far will fans go to support this show?
Who's voting and why do they vote?
So I'm calling all Idol fans and asking you to tell me how big of an Idol fan are you? And why do you support the show?

I came dangerously close to buying a David Cook performance (or two or three or all of them) off iTunes. But I managed to stop myself just in time. I can pretty easily just record the audio from the tivo...
I never watch the show, save the finale even then I'm iffy on watching it. I don't think it has been very good since season 2, but thats when I stopped watching it every episode.
This is my 2nd year watching Idol. I enjoy watching unknown talent turn into household names. I watch the show faithfully, vote regularly and this year have purchased songs from iTunes. I thought about attending the Idol tour last year, but the contestants last year weren't really my cup of tea. This year, Michael Johns is my favorite contestant, although I don't expect him to win, but if David Cook won, I would be happy with that, as well. Perhaps I'll see them on tour this year.
Thanks for your blog.
I have watched the show since season 2. I don't watch much of the auditions because I think they get old pretty fast. I know a lot of people like them but I can only take people making idiots of themselves for so long. I like the singing competition aspect of the show so I really get into it starting with Hollywood week and then try to watch all the way through to the finale.
I have voted in past seasons (mostly because my kids wanted to vote) occasionally but haven't this year. The people I want to win are generally not in the bottom 3 so I don't feel like my vote counts all that much. Had I known Chickezie was in jeopardy of going home last week I may have voted for him.
I call my vote in using my cell phone. Usually a recorded message will respond with something like, "Thanks for supporting Idol contestant # whatever", etc. etc. Or else you can get a busy signal. If I get a busy signal, then I keep trying. I vote for one person, sometimes up to 10x a night. In the scheme of things, with 31 million people watching, etc., I don't really know if my vote makes a difference, but I enjoy it. I've heard interviews from previous contestants mention that they thought they were voted off prematurely since their fans just assumed they'd be safe and didn't vote. I just want to do my part. Plus, it doesn't cost any money.
I also believe that it is important to support our music industry and the arts. This is why I purchase the songs from iTunes for 99 cents, instead of listening on You Tube. Plus, the songs are recorded in a studio ahead of time, thus sometimes longer in length and much better quality. Jason Castro sounds incredible in the studio.
Thanks for your questions.
The Clark Brothers are amazing. I actually watched the Fox channel "Great American Band" contest when they won. I was rooting for them all along. I was pleased to see them perform on the show and will look into purchasing their album when it comes out.
I have never made a comment online but feel compelled to do so now....I have watched Idol for years and decided to vote this year faithfully for my fav to at least be able to see them perform each week...I bought tunes from i tunes and followed comments and U tube.....I am very upset at what some people are saying about voting.......I voted none stop for 2 hours after the show and I had 2 other family members voting for 2 others Tuesday night.....I have never encountered as many busy signals for voting for MJ as I did Tuesday night., and I still voted none stop as soon as busy signals gone........The other family members voting didn't encounter any for their contestants.....I am now convinced that voting is unfair and I will not vote anymore except for David Cook this year....So people need to quit saying it's because of no votes..........I think the show is all staged and if Kristy Lee wins I will not watch ever again cuz the controversy over who put her in the show shadows her...I like her but she's not that good......her hometown is voting for her just cuz she's from there and they will get Idol to come film etc..I will buy all MJ cd's....I was worried I'd have to decide who"s better at the end, but not if David Cook isn't at the end.......Everyone can see MJ is a superstar already.............TAO...

Never saw it. Don't want to see it, and unless I happen to be walking by when somebody is watching it, I never will. Surviver is another one.... I live enough in reality to ever want to watch it on TV.
i don't get TV where I live
