CBS not renewing 'Moonlight'

advertisement

CBS' vampire drama "Moonlight" will not rise again.

Sources confirm the fan favorite will not be renewed by the network for a second season.

CBS declined to pickup the series because it was failing to hold its "Ghost Whisperer" lead-in and declined in the ratings post-strike. Last Friday's episode garnered a 2.0 rating among adults 18 to 49.

The news will doubtlessly devastate "Moonlight" fans, which have been very passionate for the show by any standard. Recently fans organized a nationwide blood drive to rally viewer support for a renewal.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

I'm not surprised this didn't get renewed. It was probably the least favorite of the freshman shows I watched. I really wanted to like it but it didn't capture the romanticism associated with vampires.

The show started somewhat unevenly, but it really found its footing. I'm actually really upset that they're canceling this show. It holds its own against Ghost Whisperer and Numbers, and oy, I'm just not happy.

First, Women's Murder Club, and now this.

And the networks wonder why cable is becoming more popular.

Cable is more likely to give a show a chance. I haven't watched any of the Moonlight episodes since the hiatus, but you are right it was gaining momentum there for a while.

I have no idea what those writers were on during the strike but the post strike episodes have been really, really good. The show went from overdone and campy (but strangely addictive) to good very quickly.

Well then other writers should take notes. Some of the other shows have struggled since the hiatus.

We only discovered this show recently, and were enjoying it. Frustrating, but predictable (but I'm overdue to give blood, anyways!)

Yes, at least that save the show campaign offered the best benefit to society.

I can't say I'm sorry to see this one go. The whole "I love you - but I can't love" shtick goes stale really fast. I'd much rather they brought Jerico back.

Actually the part of his being obsessed with her since she was a child and now being in love with her was all a little creepy for me.
