The CW will get a jump on the competish next season, launching Sept. 1 with a fall sked that the net will promote as its most cohesive ever.
"We want to make some noise before the official season premiere," said CW entertainment prexy Dawn Ostroff, who is pitching the nets fall sked to advertisers tonight in a tent erected outside Lincoln Center. "Launching three weeks beforehand should give us an advantage."
Coming off of a difficult year ratings-wise, the CW is hoping to inject some life into the lineup by focusing on big franchises. Inspired by the buzz surrounding frosh success "Gossip Girl," all three of the weblet's new fall entries were designed to have built-in aud interest.
I'm glad Reaper was renewed and of course, my favorite show Supernatural. The big news is the 90210 show.
Having a summer mini season for a show like Gossip Girl can only lead to bigger buzz come fall. You can be Schwartz has a juicy cliffhanger in store for the 5 show block, which is supposed to take place primarily in The Hamptons.
Well CW is finally starting to get smart about some of its programming. It's about time.
I'm pretty much not really impressed with the network's new direction. I have no interest in the "spoiled rich kids" dramas, but maybe that's just me. I'm very glad Supernatural is back and I think Reaper will be a good match for the Thursday night block.
Thursdays and Reaper are the only nights I watch too. It's no wonder this network is often overlooked.
The fact that The CW isn't in all the markets (unlike the other broadcast networks) doesn't help either. They should focus some effort in getting into more areas, that should help their numbers.
You know what I'd really like to see? A Green Arrow or Justice League spin-off from Smallville. Those were my fave story lines over the last couple of seasons.

Me too. Looks like the Green Arrow will be back on Smallville next season.
