A real diva is hiding behind that smile.

Drama was the name of the game during the second round of American Idol's Hollywood phase as contestants team up and the competition turns cut throat.
Catfights, name calling, everything but hair pulling made this round of Idol look more like an episode of Survivor instead of a talent contest. We endured 30 minutes of squabbling before we ever got to see anyone sing.
Producers might think that conflict sells, but we want to see it on stage!
Two familiar faces were leading the drama during rehearsals.
Showing her true side - and let me tell you it wasn't pretty - was none other than Bikini Girl. First Katrina Darrell bails on rehearsing with her team because she was "tired." Then her team had to come to her room to find her the morning of the performance and she blows them off. Finally, at the last minute she shows up.
And when Jasmine Murray became the only one in their group to make the cut - and Jasmine deserved it - Katrina refused to congratulate her.
But stirring up trouble worked out a little better for Tatiana Del Torro. No sign of her creepy laugh as she jumped ship from her group during rehearsal, joined another group and then abandoned them to return to the original group.
However, everyone in Tatiana's original group made it through to the next round including two that we saw for the first time - Kaylan Lloyd from the Louisville auditions and Muna Hiluf who auditioned in Phoenix.
The group that Tatiana joined temporarily did not fare as well. Team Compromise was less than impressive, but the judges let through two of its three members - Nathaniel Marshall, who performed better tonight than in Round 1 and a new face from the Louisville auditions Kristin McNamara.
Many others did not survivor Group Night including Emily Wynne-Hughes who bailed on her girl band to audition for Idol and Rose Flack who forgot the words.
But the most shocking cut was David Osmond. What was so bad that the Osmond got cut so early in the competition? We don't know. They never showed his team perform.
But among the wreckage a couple groups rose in harmony.
White Chocolate made an awesome quartet. India Morrison from Kansas City along with Louisville auditioners Matt Giraud and Kris Allen joined a fresh face - Justin Williams from the Phoenix auditions - to make sweet music. If these guys don't make it on Idol, they should form a group.
The only other group we saw unanimously passed was the Rainbow Coalition that included buddies Danny Gokey and Jamar Rogers and 16-year-old Taylor Vaifanua. I didn't catch the name of their fourth member.
A few others we saw survived their group included Austin Sisneros, J.B. Ahfua, Alex Wagner-Trugman, Anne Marie Boskovich, Michael Sarver, Adam Lambert, Matt Breitzke, and Jesse Langseth.
In all 75 made the cut and will remain for Round 3.

I was sad that deadhead girl and punk rocker chick couldn't pull it together, happy that bikini girl is yesterday's news, but the worst thing of all is that annoying laugh girl made it through. If she somehow makes it past the judges, you know Vote The Worst is going to make her the Sanjay of 2009 and keep her around for a long time. She is hideously cringe-worthy.
Agree. I almost wish they would just get rid of all the emotional crap too. I understand that is what makes it a "reality show", but I prefer the contest.
That is probably why they don't perform well. There is less emphasis on the performance and too much face time.
Forget about fame and work on the craft!
Cue 'Ode To Joy'! Bikini Girl is gone! highlight of the evening in my opinion. Close second is Osmond going home too!
And Karma is b**tch ain't it? Punk Rock Girl who sold her friends out and canceled their Europ tour got what was coming to her!
Once again, Danny Gokey really impressed me. I also like the roughneck and the bald welder, I can't remember their names though, and I mean no offense to them. Danny's sidekick actually toned it down tonight and wasn't too bad when he wasn't shouting.
The first group, can't remember any of their names right now really blew me away. Of course it wasn't much of a suprise as they have been using them in AI promos since the auditions. But still, it was nice to see their entire performance.
The filler has to go, how much time does it take to show the judges saying 'yes' 'no' 'you're throuh, congratulations'. And I could care less about all the little drama queens (Nathaniel included) running around having melt downs before they get on stage. Let me hear these kids sing. Let the judges stroke their own egoes on their own time, not mine.
All that being said, Group Day is just about the absolute worse thing about AI. They don't sing in groups during the competition, why in the **** do they do it at all?
They don't sing in groups during the competition, why in the **** do they do it at all?
There is the opening of the elimination day where they have them harmonize together..... I tend to fast forward through it.
I agree about the drama... what a waste of time. That is why I don't watch any other reality show... seriously none.
I grew up on Dance Fever, Star Search, etc... I want to see the competition.
I get that there is stuff that goes on behind the scene, but does anyone get that these meltdowns are happening in front of a camera.
There has been nearly 20 years of "reality tv", people have grown up knowing how to ham it up before the camera. Quite frankly it is turning me off TV.
Punk Rock Girl who sold her friends out
Wonder if they'll take her back?
If your 'friend' derailed your dream of touring Europe and destroying probably years of hard work to get the tour, would you even take their call?

I did mean to give props to Sarver his group was the first one that did the A.B.C.rap right? And is Sarver's first name Michael or Jeremy because yesterday I called him Jeremy guess I need to pay more attention to the names, but the show doesn't linger on one person long enough for people to absorb what they saw before they switch to something else. I don't like these changes AI has made this year, but I'm going to stay tuned.
would you even take their call?
I guess it depends. Can they make it without her? If yes, then I definitely wouldn't take her call. But if they need her to rebuild the dream, maybe. She'd have to do some serious groveling, though.
This episode disappointed for basically the same reasons as previous posters gave.
The silly drama is simply not that entertaining or dramatic and while there were plenty of teases about incredible performances, we really didn't see anything that dazzled and absolutely, the performances were deemphasized.
I think the problems with this episode are kind of representative of the season as a whole so far. They need to turn this around or risk jeopardizing the AI franchise.
I am so glad bikini girl is gone, I was going to stop watching the show if they kept putting her through. I didn't like this show tonight, the first half hour was awful, I hope they don't do this again.
Well hip,hip hooray bikini girl is gone! I thought she showed her true self finally, and we all knew she"d try to rely on her sad pathetic,no shape, zippered look body to get by with doing as little as possible. I think she should try the adult industry cause you don't have to sing, and you can make it all about you!! On to better things WOW white chocolate brought the house down, and harmonising like they did deserves a contract NOW!! Rainbow coalition had it going on too, but white chocolate ruled the night for me. Now as for Nick{Norm} I think he made it through because AI knows with bikini girl gone we will need some DRAMA next week!!
I though the same thing about "bikini girl" the adult industry would be a great place for her.
It's supposed to be a singing competition so why do we see less than a handful of groups singing and most of the show honoring bickering? Get on with it Idol. Cut the crap and get back to the music.
AMEN!
Can we send these opinions to the producers?
This crap is a joke! Most of the time I tape it on the DVR and then watch it later. I made the mistake the last couple nights watching it while it was on.
I fast forward through 50% of the shows for the last 4 years.
Please allow me to add my voice to the many who are expressing disgust with the amount of time filled during last night's episode by JUNK. They kept showing all these supposedly great singers running out of the room, thrilled that they'd made it, and I felt like we'd see maybe 10% of them. It sucked! And yes, I get that Bikini Girl and the girl with the dead parents made delightful television, along with the mentally unstable chick with the long dark hair - but honestly. 10 minutes would have done it. To spend so much time on them to the exclusion of the other singers was crap.
Forget the silly bikini girl and the crazy chic with the scarey laugh..... I wanna know why the Osmond guy got cut?! Hard to believe an Osmond wasn't exciting enough for a least a few minutes of air time!
I didn't realize the Osmond guy got cut! I thought he had a great voice! Some of those they kept were complete surprises to me.
I thought he had a great voice too. And then they keep the chic with the scarey laugh?? What are the odds really that she'll have a chance at winning this?
They didn't even bother to show Osmond's performance. It would be nice to know why someone with a voice like his got the boot.
If I were the Osmonds I'd be mighty insulted that the stupid bikini girl got airtime over their own real performer!
which one was osmond?
Just a not to those blubbering crybabies - if a miracle happens and you advance to the voting rounds people will remember your whining - not your singing. Grow up!
Vacelts, I completely agree with your assessment.
I can handle 5, maybe 10 minutes top of the behind-the-scenes drama. The rest of the show should be an actual demonstration of the participants' talent (or lack thereof).
Bikini girl was awful; I can't believe she made it this far, and she really showed herself to a less-than-stellar human being last night. I was hoping annoying laugh girl would get the heave-ho, but I was sadly disappointed.
White Chocolate and the Rainbow Coalition were outstanding vocally, and both groups had members with a LOT of stage presence. The groups were very cohesive, made good choices for the songs, and balanced each other very, very well. (And, incidently, "White Chocolate and the Rainbow Coalition" sounds like a really good name for a band . . . )
Very good review, vacelts!
Also, is it just me, or does Jasmine Murray look like Gabrielle Union and Mo'nique had a child?
I'm betting that Osmond comes back via wildcard round
Wow another great waste of time. Glad to see bikini girl gone. But so much time wasted on drama, let us see the real talent with teh ones that can sing. I get the whole "group" day. You can see who is willing to be a team player and who is not. You already have way too many snobs in Hollywood, dont want to add more dead weight or ignorant headliners. Now for the other psyco laughing, Jesus I love you, crying out of her mind, shut your mouth and know your role girl. I just want to know when is she getting kicked out, truly her parents are glad that she is out of the house for a few days. Reality show, then keep it real. Show us the singing, not the filler.
I read on another site a blogger said that Tatiana was full of 'toro' which I just thought was hilarious and right on the mark.
This girl has some serious emotional and mental issues, she doesn't need this competition and the attention it brings. She needs a nice quite room to rest in with doctors and nurses on call at all hours...
I want to jam a pencil thur my eardrums when she laughs...
The dude's last name is OSMOND and he can't even get through on American Idol?
Yeh, me too!! I can't believe they cut that. what a waste!!
I'm not really into the drama of it. I just wanted to see them perform.
Bikini girl might have a future in the porn industry, but other than that, probably not much to look forward to for her.
The modeling industry is tough, and she doesn't have what it takes.
I hated this episode so much I'm not sure I will watch the season even though I loved Danny Gokey. How, on an hour long show about a singing competition, could they only 20-25 mins of performing. I also just feel so badly that AI producers decide to sacrifice contestants for the likes of Bikini Girl who's aim is not to sing, but for Paris Hilton like fame, or perhaps a Playboy spread. I mean really, 2 mins of it may have been entertaining, but they devoted almost the entire show to it. What happened to the Osmond? He was great and sang well, did he forget words, have a breakdown, what? We won't know. The producers wonder why ratings have sagged and this is the reason why.
The group competition always shows so much. If you can sing, you can sing. If you can't, you take your bikini and go home.
I think it's time Idol starts showing less 'drama' and more singing.
David Osmond explains what happened on his web site:
In short, late hours and long practices = laryngitis.
Loved, Loved, Loved Danny Gokey. I have since his audition. Great voice. His group did great last night.
Glad Bikini Girl is gone. Way to much drama for a one hour show. Kind of sad to see Rose Flack (orphan) go. She did forget the words, though, and the judges stayed true to their advice of not advancing those that forgot the words.
Adam Lambert is another to watch. He has a great vocal talent that might be the best so far. He has a punk-rock look, too, which I don't mind.
Wish we could have seen more singing last night instead of all the behind-the-scenes drama.
Psyco laughing girl (Tatitiana del toro) just needs to GO. And GO now! Please send her home in the next round. She is totally getting on my nerves and I want to throw my T.V. out the window when I hear her laugh.
How can you not let Osmond go thru? they didnt even show him sing or the group he was with. Come on AI get rid of the drama and lets hear the singing.
Just. Not. Important.
I like group week or at least I used to before they dragged out the drama. I like group week because it quickly seperates the wheat from the chaff. You have to learn songs quickly, learn how to work with others even if you don't like them and it shows a bit of what kind of person you are under pressure.
I remember how hard I laughed the first year when some of those group contestants decided to try to hook up with others, go swimming and order room service than practice. After group week is over, I don't watch any more until maybe the last 2 shows.
I don't know why they cut one guy (whose name I can't remember) because he had stronger voice than some that they put through. I won't even say how glad I am that "bikini girl" is gone, gone, gone because its been said enough.
Someone said that the show is trivial. It is in the grand scheme of things. However, I work two jobs and its just a little levity in a life that has been very tough over the last 2 years. Life is short and its not always about being serious.
Don't worry about people who bash you for watching American Idol b/c it's "junk". I don't know one person who doesn't do something, watch something, or get involved in something "trivial' or "junky" once in a while. When a man bashes AI, I point out that he probably watches grown men throw balls around. Talk about trivial! It's all relative. And yes, we ALL need a "mental vacation" once in a while. Life can't be all reading War and Peace all of the time. I did that when I was 12...let me have a mental vacation once a week to watch AI!
I missed some shows and I have a question about someone I saw in auditions. Don't know his name, he was a young young kid. Kinda Emo looking..... and he made horror films. Pretty cool little guy. He made it through. but I NEVER saw him after that. Anyone?
the fourth member of the rainbow coalition group is moorea masa , 16 , from oregon. Killer vocals. Too bad they never gave her airtime.
