Simon Cowell has confirmed that all four Idol judges will return next season.
"I think certainly next year everyone's going to be back," he told Ellen DeGeneres during a pre-taped Tuesday appearance on her show ("Yeah, absolutely," he added.)

Every professional sports team reports that "everyone will be back" ... until the off season with trades, cuts and retirements.

The four judges just take too much time.

Paula will be gone (contract is up). Simon will leave. Kara may replace the criticism he offered in the past.

I thought Simon had another year on his contract.

Paula's ends this year, Simon's next year as far as I know. If they want Idol to continue, they will need to infuse some new life into it. The first will be to get new judges. The next will be to involve the judges in the final stages by giving them part of the vote like other such contests have successfully done.
