After Tuesday's train wreck performance, I thought for sure that tonight's American Idol results show would be the end of the line for Danny Gokey. But apparently Danny's got some unbelievable luck or some devoted (although deaf) fans.
The announcement of the Top 3 was given in random order this week – no bottom three (or two). But that didn't diminish the surprise when Kris Allen was sent to safety first, especially after the judges panned his performance on Tuesday. Kris really is a dark horse contender.
Adam Lambert was sent to safety next, but that was no surprise. Even if he didn't have a great performance Tuesday (which he did), I'm sure his fans would have turned out in droves after last week's appearance in the Bottom 2.
But the big surprise really came next. Apparently even after 64 million votes, Danny can do no wrong – including butchering an Aerosmith song – because Allison got sent home tonight. And now we have three men in the finals.
The rest of the night went to a slew of performance. First up, the group number.
Slash plays the guitar for "School's Out" as the Final Four open the show. Glad to see Slash perform, but overall I wasn't impressed with the song. It's a good thing none of Tuesday's performances were a quartet.
Next up, Judge Paula Abdul tries to relive the glory days with what looked like a lip-synched performance of her single "I'm Just Here for the Music." I think the contestants should have had the opportunity to give her a critique – not that it would have mattered since it was pre-recorded.
But the live performance of "Just a Girl" by No Doubt more than made up for having to watch Paula. I can't say that I was digging Gwen Stefani's look, but the girl can sing. Actually, I think my husband liked the lime green bra. Guess I'm going to have to get one.
And lastly, Chris Daughtry returned to the Idol stage with his band Daughtry to debut his new single "No Surprise." Chris is living proof that you don't have to win Idol to be successful. I really enjoyed his performance and even turned to my husband to asked why we don't have a Daughtry album (he was on the show before I started watching it).
Overall, not a bad night of performances. Next week the Top 3 go home.

I'm thrilled Kris is safe. I don't know if he'll beat Adam's rabid fans (and no, that's not an insult, guys, just a fact) but I think he's got "top two" written all over him! :)
I hope Kris does well and no offense taken by us Adam fans:)
Me, too! Threw up my hands and shouted WOOOHOOO!!!! I think Kris is great.
Me Too! Great to see Kris safe this week. I look forward to seeing how he does next week in the top 3.
I know this may sound mean, but I hope Adam haters call in for who ever is going against him to counteract the die hard fans.
Just a thought =}
Yes, that is mean. I hope Danny fans call in for Danny, Adam fans call in for Adam and Kris fans call in for Kris.
No one should be a "hater" of a contestant on the show. You should vote for whomever you think is the most talented performer, not vote "against" someone you don't like.
Just a thought.
Well, I was soooo wrong about Danny going home for sure, but right that Kris would be in no danger. What does one have to do to see Danny go I mean he butchered that song and he gets to stay, oh sad days. I do hope he goes next week. Do we know what they get to sing next week? It should be a Kris and Adam final no doubt!!
I thinkit will be interesting to see which songs the producers/judges pick for them.
I do not understand how tone deaf tweens are?!?! I mean HOW IS DANNY STILL HERE!?!?! I loved Allison, and yet votes do not matter. I understand that Adam will most likely win, although he isn't my fav, but Allison at least EARNED top 3 if not top 2. Kris is amazing as well, but DANNY REALLY? COME ON! THIS IS RIDCULOUS! He ruined Dream On! EGH! He NEEDS to go home next week. All of his past weeks sounded the same except this week when it was SCREACHING worse!
UGH!
TWEENS? No way. I think tweens are voting for Adam and Kris. Danny is getting the older, middle aged and Christian contingent.
Whoa! Let's not forget how Adam totally butchered Johnny Cash's 'Burning Ring of Fire' during country week -- he didn't even TRY to do country. At least, in my mind, Danny gets points for trying. What Adam did with Ring of Fire was shameful . . . .
The teens and tweens in my house are "really feelin Kris". They like Adam and love his "mad vocal skillz", but Kris is "way cute". As far as I know, none of them care for Danny but he "seems nice".
Adam didn't butcher "Ring of Fire" in the same way that Danny butchered "Dream On." Adam did a different arrangement that took most (maybe all) of the country out of it, but I haven't heard anyone complain that he performed it poorly. Danny did a straight performance of a rock song and did it very poorly.
There are a lot of people who actually liked Adam's performance of Ring of Fire. I don't know anyone who can legitimately say that Danny did well in Dream On.
What is your beef with Danny? Rock is definitely not his specialty..but he never said it was. He was out of his comfort zone..but he gave it a valiant effort. If you don't like his voice..that's one thing..but don't slam him as a person when you don't know him. Obviously..everyone doesn't have the same perception of what an "idol" should be.
No one in this particular thread slammed him as a person. I'm sure Danny is a lovely person. That was what originally drew me to him during the auditions - I really liked his personality. Unfortunately, his consistently similar and ho-hum performances in the finals were not enough to keep me rooting for him.
What a BUMMER! I was so hoping it would be Allison and Adam in the finals! I just don't understand what everyone thinks is so great about Danny. I was really hoping he would have gotten voted off tonight. He is just not a "American Idol". GO ADAM!!!!
I also thought that Allison and Adam would be in the final 2, because they both rock. I suppose nobody like the color of her hair and that is why didn't vote for her, but that is not fair the contest is a singing contest first so she should be judge for her singing and not how she looks. I wish I was able to vote, I would have voted for her (I don't live in America). Are people sooo deaf that they don't know who is a better singer, Danny or Allision. Anyways, maybe Danny is getting sympathy votes. Allison will make it big just like daugthery. See Kelly Pickler who thought she would be making Albums. I hope Kris and Adam are in the final 2.
Ditto that, Smejkal2.
Ok I'll be the one to defend Danny and await everyone's wrath. I think we can all agree that was not Danny's best performance but that was the worst possible style for him and it showed. Just like rat pack night was not Adam's style too....he could have gone home very easily. On the flip side, that was Allison's absolute forte and she didn't hit a home run. All the contestants are starting to sound like broken records to me and I didn't hear anything from Adam or Kris that sounded any different than what they'd done before. Maybe when they finally get to choose what they want to do will they separate themselves from each other. Next week should be interesting.
I'm a Danny fan too. And a Kris fan. :)
I could care less if Danny sings something different, but when he CHOOSES to sing something different, he has to deliver. And no one this entire season had a worse performance than Danny's last night. No one.
Oh, I could think of a few singers who had some awful performances. Danny had one, and in earlier stages, he'd have been given a pass by his fans and no one would be griping. I thought for sure he'd be gone last night, just based on the previous night's performance. But, the fans came out. And I am glad.
The judges have been "pimping" Danny and Adam to be in the final since the very beginning. This week, Danny was awful! He has a good voice but everyweek it sounds the same... BORING! In terms of actually selling records, I think Kris has the best chance of appealing to the masses. Adam has awesome vocals, but I couldn't imagine listening to more than a couple songs from him. Allison has an incredible voice with an edge. Danny just has a good voice... that's it.
Well, first off I wanted to say that last night Danny showed a lot of grace and humor, and whether you like his singing or not (personally, I prefer Adam's) you should give him credit for being able to laugh at himself. Everyone makes mistakes, and it's nice to see he has a sense of humor about it. He seemed genuinely surprised when it was announced that Allison was the one going home, too.
I agree - any contestant with a large enough fan base would have been given a pass earlier in the season for having messed up like that. But it isn't earlier in the season. If he had thought there was even the slightest chance of not being able to hit that note, he should have picked a different song to do. Because at this point, you really don't want to mess up.
Next week will be very interesting and will show whether Danny's fans were right to have given him a pass. I do think it's a shame Allison got voted off, especially since I think Danny sang worse than she did this week. But - bygones. I will buy her CDs and be happy knowing she will be a success, winner or not. :)
By this point in the competition, a disaster such as Danny's is unacceptable. And let's not gloss things over, either, and pretend that this was the first time that he has been less than stellar. It's not. It is the first time he has failed in spectacula fashion. It demonstrated that Danny does not know his limitations as an artist.
That being said, I thought how he handled it last night was great. He could have been all snippy and defensive but he responded with humor. I appreciated that.
I grew to like Allison quite a bit over the past few weeks, but if she hadn't have gone home this week, she definitely would have the following week. She had been in the bottom 3 more than any of the other guys, and I think she had trouble building a following.
Sorry , but I'm really going to have to disagree with you. There is no excuse for Danny to have so badly misjudged his vocal abilities and what songs he should be singing this late in the competition. Plenty of other singers struggled with genres that they aren't familiar with, or just don't suit their style of singing, but they somehow manage to pick good songs and rework arrangements so that their performances come across as original and sound good. Adam managed to during Grand Old Oprey week, and Kris managed to during disco week. So why should Danny get a pass here?
Not only did Danny pick what was probably the most difficult song for someone with his limited vocal range to tackle (and no, I don't give him an A for effort), but he didn't even attempt to rework the arrangement. Instead he ended up sounding like someone doing an extremely poor kareoke version of Dream On, without the benefit of getting drunk first. At this point in the competition, with his years of experience behind him, there is no excuse for the mess that he dumped on the stage this week.
Now admittedly, I'm no huge fan of Danny. I'll give him credit that he's managed to keep out of trouble too much this season, but he is probably one of the dullest performers I've seen in years. It's one thing when you take a risk like Adam did with Ring of Fire because it came off more or less successfully (the worst comment was that it was self-indulgent, but no one could take issue with his actual singing). It's an entirely different matter when you take a risk the way Danny did and fall flat on your backside on stage and are still rewarded for it.
Allison certainly was not the person who should have gone home last night.
I totally agree with all of your comments. At this point of the competition, all contestants should be on top of their game. I think that Danny's performance was one of the worst ever of AI. To vote him to the top three is a disgrace and disrespectful of Allison's talent. Hopefully he will go next week. He should be gone now.
I too will defend Danny. I want a Kris and Danny final. I wished Adam would of went home last night. He is so into himself and over dramatical. He gives me the creeps. I liked Allison never thought she would be in the final 3. Kris and Danny are great. They are real guys who know what gender they are. Adam is just plain weird.
"I wished Adam would of went home last night. He is so into himself and over dramatical. He gives me the creeps. Kris and Danny are great. They are real guys who know what gender they are. Adam is just plain weird."
Wow. I think these comments give us plenty of insight into you.
Any observations about singing abilities, or just about which performers allow you to remain cozily nestled in your sexual comfort zone?
I am definitely a Danny fan too! Doesn't matter if he messed up the song - he's was man enough to admit too it and make fun of himself. He's human!!! Adam has butchered a song, so has Allison so they are pretty much all even and all of them stayed after their night of shame. So now it's all fresh and new for the finale. The problem with Adam is -he's too over the top with his Elivs curled up lip, his screaming and tongue hanging out on each song and think about it, he reminds you of how america loved Taylor Hicks jumping around on stage. AND WHERE IS TAYLOR NOW - who has his CD??????? Danny and Kris are more traditional and their music style is in the now!! Adam is singing and performing how bands did back in the 1980's.
So all Danny fans - get to voting and any Allison fans on this board, you are welcome to join in and vote for Danny - we sure do appreciate it
Next week is 2 songs each: their pick and a judge's pick. Should be a good show.
Allison will have a long, exciting career, I bet. She'll have a record deal by tomorrow.
True, and I'm glad the folks from AI aren't producing it. Even though she was my favorite, AI winner's 1st records generally are very cookie cutter and generic. I hope she gets the chance to make a quality CD.
I thought AI gets first refusal in signing a contestant, where a label can come in and make an offer, but AI can invoke a clause in the contract. I could be wrong, but I thought I read that somewhere.
I never actually bothered to look up the specifics, lol, but I thought the 1st place winners were obligated to make a cd with Idol? I'm not sure about the rest of the contestants, though.
Yes, it's the prize, a million dollar record contract. My apologies to Allison. I thought I had voted enough, about 15 times. Go Kris!
well since the singers pick a song and the judges pick one for them.. you can bet Danny will pick a ballad and they judges will pick soemthing simple and easy for him.. thus turning both of his performances next week into a late wife memorial tribute..
NO WAY is Danny a better singer then Allison. He sure had someone on his side; Allison will do Ok though. Danny will be done next week !!! I did not care for any of the entertainers.
Paula finally got her chance for the limelight . Now maybe the next two weeks she can stay seated and act like a Judge !!!
I thought Paula Abdul showed very little spine...getting up there and lip synching. Pathetic. She's supposedly the big star who has sold 53 million CD's. Plus, she can't even let anyone hear a recording of her voice without the pitch corrector and transformer. She was an absolute zero.
I love No Doubt immensely (bought tickets to their denver show the first day they went on sale!), but Gwen was jumping around too much to sound good.
Daughtry was ok. Their new single is too generic and Nickelback-ish to be of high quality, but Chris is a good performer.
And don't get me started on Paula, lol
Yeah, what was up with Paula? Most of the time I couldn't even tell if it was her or some 20-year old pop singer gyrating around on the stage. Granted, she can move! I wish I could move like that; but she obviously didn't sing one note of that song live which is surprising considering she judges a live singing competition... go figure!
For the judges who talk about charisma and such, Paula's lip synching performance left me cold and seemed disjointed. Ugh.
Those who can, do - those who can't, judge. LOL
I am so happy for Kris. Heartsick about Allison. Adam and Allison's duet was awesome. She really rocks. This is not the last we will hear of her. She will make it big time. I have been voting for Allison and Kris. All my votes will go to Kris now. I cannot believe Danny got through again.
Didn't watch the results show--rivaling lost. I am very dissappointed to learn that Allison went home this time. She was much better than Gokey--in fact--all were better than him this week! It's really a tough call between Adam and Kris now, I guess it falls to what style the voters like now. I agree with many posters yesterday and early today that Danny is just going to be another--ummmm--what's his name--ummmmmmmm--oh the gray haired dude that won a few years ago....help me out!
How could you forget Taylor Hicks! lol
Thanks sfs! I was having a brain fart there.
Vacelts--I won't let anything slip--it was a good one though, and you might need that tape to rewind and rewatch some parts :)
I was so excited when it was announced that Kris was safe, but also felt bad for Allison, but now I hope that Kris can out last Danny then beat Adam.....one can only hope....
I hope so too! I'm from Arkansas and the feelings and excitement coming from everyone here are incredible! Unfortunately I think a lot of the decision is made by the producers and judges...Kris is just to "normal" of a guy for them...so sad. I hope I'm wrong about that.
I hope so too!
So sorry Danny is still there, he has a great voice but boy his stage presence is horrible and that outfit he wore last night! Sorry Danny fans he sooooooooo needs to go!!
If you're going to talk about dress..what about all the weird outfits Adam wears? And what is so great about Kris' stage presence? I like the guy..but he and Danny wear similar outfits?
Soul Patrol Taylor Hicks won 2 years ago!!
Guess that is why there are so many different genres of music and radio stations: we do not all like the same kind of music. I personally like Danny and have no idea why others think Adam is so great. He's just not my cup of tea. I still wonder how Britney Spears became famous... LOL.
Danny may not have great stage presence but neither did Carrie Underwood when she was on AI. She was like a beautiful robot with a spectacular voice... but no personality or passion. Stage presence can be learned with experience.
And for the record, I am not a teeny bopper :)
I said Kris Fans were mostly teenie boppers not Danny fans and stage presence can be learned but it is so nice to pay to see someone that already has it.
Yes, I like Danny too and agree with the stage presence thing. The comment below about Danny milking his wife's death is horrible.
I think it will be Danny and Adam in the end.
I can't wait to see who will end up as successful after Idol is over. I have no interest in buying anything that Adam wants to scream his way through.
I completely agree. I'd rather listen to a great voice than watch someone with a marginal voice and over the top theatrics. Sorry Adam fans but he's got to go.
dandegirl and Silentspace2000:
This week's show gave an example of where that "scream" fits in music and the difference between those who could (Adam) and could not (Danny) do it. Every guest mentor has been impressed by Adam, as well as the judges... people who are in the industry. They may know a thing or two about what is good and what will sell. Maybe not sell to you, but they are in the business of selling as many records as possible. When there is a financial stake, the choice is more serious. Danny's screech was so bad, he himself said he had to laugh it off for the rest of the evening.
And it is that way that Danny can laugh at himself and admit he screwd up that has endeared him to me. He is so real and down-to-Earth. He's the kind of guy I could pal around with. I could see him and me being good friends.
I think some of you are confusing screaming with singing loudly. Adam sings those notes; Danny screamed his. There is a very clear difference between the two, if you play the songs back. Adam's sounds musical because he is actually singing the note, not screaming it.
And while Danny may be a great guy you can pal around with, I'm not going to vote for him to win because of that. But yeah - LOADS of respect to anyone who can take that in good humor.
I'm not sure why everyone says Kris's fan base is teenie boppers. While I prefer Allison and Adam, I think Kris has more musical capabilities than either of them. No one has commented that Kris's musical arrangements are anyone's but his own. He's much more talented and could have a much longer career than someone whose fan base is teenie boppers.
NY2LV,
If the criteria for winning is who will sell the most records, then we've got a whole different discussion. Would Danny win based on his stage presence? No. Would he win on having the best looking teeth, no. Is he the cutest contestant? No. But I would rather listen to his voice with no visual than anyone that's left. How many bad notes has he had before that?....like none.
Danny has had pitch problems in previous weeks just like everyone else (except Adam). Adam is a technician that has nailed each of his songs. I like Danny's voice too, but he just doesn't have the range, power or control of Adam. Would I buy Danny's album? Maybe. Adam's? Defintely. Would I see Danny's concert? No.
I take it you're not a Guns n Roses or Aerosmith fan. Oh well, Barry Manilow has a market also.
Adam has a marginal voice? It's odd that every single judge and guest mentor have raved about Adam's range and vocal talent.
I think you can say a lot of things about Adam, but you can't say he has a marginal voice and expect anyone to take you seriously. Sorry.
Allison doesn't need American Idol to make a record maybe better if she doesn"t. This is the first year I felt I would't watch it next year. Heres your escape Simon it isn't number one anymore abandon ship
I am from Arkansas and kris is a sweet boy/just married and all...but, Adam is the one I picked from the auditions...I want a star to entertain me/and, he is the whole package with a 5 octave or more range to go with it.....When I went back and listened to him in Brigadoon, I knew I had picked the right idol...he can really sing anything, rock, ballads, souful, very emotional feelings in all his performances and he is so darn nice to all of the contestants, fans, judges and audience. He's got manners...and, I like that just a whole lot!!!!!
Right on, Maggie! Adam is the total package -- yeah, he can scream and belt 'em out, but he can also be soulful and tender. I also like that he is so gracious and polite, respectful of the judges and his fellow contestants. Like you, I've gone back and listenened to his earlier works on You Tube -- he is fantastic! Keep voting -- he is the American Idol!
Allison and Adam will stand alone in the future who needs american idol
Too Right!
I'd probably look to itunes for that. Seems like it will be 1. Adam, 2. Kris, 3. Allison/Danny (I guess type of album will determine who will do better out of the two of them).
I think Kris has a great shot at being successful after Idol.
Oh, I completely agree - Kris stands a great shot, and I'd probably buy his CDs. Ithink he and Adam will be the most successful and that Allison and Danny can do well, but it will depend on what kind of record they ultimately decide to put out.
I never liked that Danny guy from the beginning, milking his wife's death....gave me the creeps from day1.
David Cook (my favorite all along and the best) handled his brother's cancer so much more maturelly and genuinelly...I was happy for both D Cook and Archuleta last year, both were great. This year? Adam and Allison, hands down.
How has Danny milked his wife's death? Since the initial auditions and the story broke, I can't remember him mentioning it other than to say a song was special and he sang it for her. Everyone else brings it up but not him. I love my brothers (3 of them) but your wife is your partner in life, the one person you bet it all on. Losing a brother is awfull but losing a wife you love more than yourself is devastating. I thought Allison should have stayed and Danny go but his wife had nothing to do with it. He has consistantly been a rock until Rock week. I'm not an Adam fan either but face it... Based on performance it was 1) Adam 2) Allison 3) Kris then 4) Danny. Sorry Danny, next week it's "sayonara"!
Now hold on... Danny has never milked his wife's death. It has been all producers making for a good storyline that's going to draw viewers and followers in to the show. Alex is right. Danny mentioned it once when he sang a song dedicated to her. Nothing wrong with that. It was mentioned more than once on AI last year that David Cook's brother was ill. No one accused him of milking it. The fact that Danny sings ballads and makes a storng connection when he sings those songs makes everyone think "Oh, he's bringing his dead wife into it again." If privately, she is his inspiration (and I think there are many people who can say their spouse and children are inspirations for what they do), then let him express himself. I liek when a singer connects to his/her song in a tender way, and there are far two many professionals who just don't cut it.
He dosent have to bring it up vocally. Everyone remembers that from the early stages of this season. Plus he is guilty of wearing his wedding ring on song night and then sometimes the next night no ring. And the Lenscrafter "heart hands" that is suppose to be a plug for the charity he started in her name. Remember what you always heard growing up.. Actions speak louder than words....
Honestly, what is this Lenscrafter's thing? Is it something on his glasses. And I never even knew about his wedding ring until I read it here. I pay more attention to the performance I guess.
David Cook had his brother's initials (RIP) written on his guitar when he was on Idol...they mentioned him at least every other week.
Not quite correct. Those are both of his brothers' initials so it was for both.
When did they EVER mention his "other brother"?
LOL.
Hell, I didn't know he even had another brother.
His other brother auditioned for AI the same season and didn't make it. David actually went along for moral support and ended up auditioning himself and we all know how that turned out.
KindMisica-
Again, that is a horrible thing to say about Danny. And comparing Danny's situation to David Cook's brother dying of cancer is just ridiculous. His WIFE died during a surgery she should have survived! And one month prior to Idol tryouts. He hasn't even had time to grieve.
And he may be wearing his wedding ring for years. That's up to him. Wow, can't believe how unfeeling and uncaring people are.
Someone needs to grow up but it's not Danny.
Totall agree with you. I cannot believe the vicious and unkind comments about Danny milking his wife's death...that is totally cruel and heartless. If the non-Danny fans are so sure he won't win..don't worry about it. But the tasteless comments need to GO!
Simon wants out, heres his chance, says he won't continue if the show goes below number 1. Theres no show without Simon nomatter how rigged it is
I think this week's show was definitely rigged, but I hope next week Danny is out.
I totally agree..there is no show without Simon, he says it like it is. He's the only judge that makes any sense.... AND I will not watch American Idol anymore if Simon goes !!
Why do you think this week's show was rigged? Danny clearly has a strong fan base - he's proven that week after week of being safe. Allison has been in the bottom 2 or 3 several times, which indicates that her fan base is not as strong. Yes, Danny deserved to go home after that performance Tuesday but it's not all that surprising that he didn't. Lots of people vote for their favorits regardless of how they performed on a particular night - and maybe especially if they did poorly.
At least as far as the show goes. Once AI is over, popularity doesn't amount to a successful career - that's when talent seems to win out.
Didn't particularly care for Paula's act tonight could tell she wasn't singing, I suppose we were suppose to enjoy the computerized music and the dance.....didn't though.
Danny is NOT MY cup of tea.
That's OK. Allison isn't mine. That's what makes the show so great this season. There has been a singer for just about everyone out there.
And Adam isn't my cup of tea. Freedom of choice; only in America!
I was so disappointed that Allison was sent home. Gokey's performance was so painful; there seems to be little justice in this reality system! I am certain that Allison will be a star, she just doesn't know it yet. I'm sure Clive Davis will be discussing a record deal in the next few weeks!
Adam's by far the best singer. I think Danny is still around because of his niceness factor; probably appeals to people who don't like daring hair styles or clothes, and because he's an unabashed Christian, so lots of Christians probably vote for him. Nothing against that, btw, I'm Christian, too. Also, I think it's the show that milked his wife's death, not him. I'm also a musician, and I still say that Adam could be a star as huge as Elvis Presley in the future. I liked Allison, too, and was surprised she didn't come ahead of Danny. Could it be that many of the young females who vote are more likely to vote for a male singer?
I think maybe Allison and Adam share a fan base and since Adam was supposedly in the bottom two last week, a lot of the votes that might have gone to Allison went to him instead.
Well, yeah, maybe it was the show and the editing that made Gokey look like "milking his wife's death", but...there's a reason they called him "the wailing banshee". Harsh, yes, maybe too harsh, but...just let me hear your voice, not the sad stories about your dead parent or you sleeping in your car or being broke...how many of us have a heart-wrenching story? I have at least a few. And I don't capitalize on any when looking for a job.
All those stories got you to tune in didn't they? That's the producers at work.
I'd rather the results show go back to 1/2 hour. Cut the "idol" chit-chat and get down to business!
AGREE - big time!
Absolutely agree with half-hour results shows. Hell, I'd say do it in 5 minutes but that would be unworkable. They could still do their music video, still do a group performance and all of that in half an hour. Does anyone actually tune in to watch the guest performers that wouldn't normally be watching Idol?
I've been listening to, dancing to, and loving rock music longer than most Idol fans have been alive. All four of these kids are very talented. Listen to them on iTunes without the horrific sound system on that stage & they all sound great. There are all kinds of rock for all tastes. By the way - I've read where Danny tried not to use his wife's death. Have any of you lost a spouse? If not - you have no idea how it feels. I have & I think he's done remarkably well. I'm 63 & I love Allison's voice. She is young & will do well if she maneuvers through fame. I'm ok with Adam's lifestyle, but it hurts him with my kids & their friends (they're in their 30s & 40s & can't stand him). This show is great for how it develops talent in those who are willing to work hard & take advantage of this unbelievable opportunity. My grandkids have "Idol" shows at their elementary school - it's a fun thing for all ages! Enjoy - life is too short to sit around criticizing others!
GrandmotherFan,
I find it interesting that you're okay with Adam's lifestyle, but your kids aren't. Not wanting to start a socio-political discussion here, but according to the polls, it's generally the younger folks who'd be hip to Adam's lifestyle. Good for you :)
